DCCNS is a child-centered, play-based preschool offering several multi-age programs for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years.

DCCNS is a non-profit, parent co-operative preschool staffed by certified, early childhood educators. The teachers provide a planned, developmentally appropriate, hands-on curriculum. DCCNS offers varied play environments and continuous social experiences as a means of teaching and conveying important skills for school readiness.

DCCNS was established in 1973, as an outreach of Davis Community Church. Although DCCNS teaches no religious doctrine, curriculum is guided by a philosophy of mutual care, respect, and understanding. We create an environment in which families from all faiths, backgrounds, and traditions feel welcome, comfortable, and valued.

DCCNS is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services and follows its regulations, as well as, the policies set by the school’s board of directors.

Our PHILOSOPHY

We believe that play is a child’s work.

Through social interaction and play activities, we teach children life skills so children can form healthy relationships, be independent, solve problems and conflicts, learn self-discipline, and show respect for others.

Our main goals are to:

  • Nurture children and encourage them to discover, experience and master new skills

  • Foster age appropriate social skills

  • Build self-esteem and self-confidence

Since parents are the most important people in a young child’s world, every effort is made to provide a positive learning experience for both child and adult.

You will not find a preschool with more caring, professional, and patient teachers than at DCCNS.
